How to Join - Simdycar
|
If you are new to VOR and want to join us, below is our procedure. It’s a formal process with several steps. Please follow these steps completely – incomplete steps will prevent you from joining us. If you have questions, please send a private message to TJ Halsema on our forum.
Please join using your full real name. We require drivers use their real names in rFactor and our forums - it's too hard to learn everyone's nicknames.
Phase 1 – Understand the League
Review our website for a better understanding of our series. We have many series: VOR’s GPL League (run on Friday nights), VOR Sportscars (multi-classed racing based on ALMS, run on Monday nights), a monthly Sportcar Endurance Series, and VOR Simdycar Series that runs on Sundays

VOR SimdyCar Season 1 – IndyCar 2010 – All drivers may participate. This series runs Sunday Nights throughout the year. Qualifying starts at 8pm EST
Phase 2 – Open Wheel Application process
If you are interested in joining the VOR SimdyCar Series(and can participate at approximately 8pm EDT (same as New York City) on Mondays about once a month), please complete the following items:
1) Fill out a Driver Bio and Finish the SimdyCar Rules Test and submit it in a PM to TJ Halsema or Kevin Bean

2) Sign up in the series SimdyCar Driver Roster tread.
3) Select your car number (please select an unused number as posted in the first post of the thread).
Phase 3 – Download the Mod and Tracks
Once you have properly signed up you will receive forum access to the Simdycar Downloads area, proceed to this area where you will find the password and files needed for Sim-Sync. I recommend you subscribe to that Download Thread (documented in the thread) so you receive email updates when a new download is ready.
The tracks are released in groups. We customize each of the tracks to support our grids. The tracks are released usually 2 weeks before the first track is needed.
Also posted in the downloads thread are painting templates if you want to paint your own. If you want to have a custom skin, but do not have the skill, there are plenty of qualified painters in our league who can help you.
Phase 4 – Decide Your Car
In the SimdyCar Series we are using Indycar 2010 1.10 mod, this mod is now based here at VOR. If you would like to race a real car, eg. Tony Kanaan, that is fine. But, please use the number you have signed up for on the car. If you need someone to paint this for you contact one of the VOR painters.
General Notes
Please practice with us online as often as possible. Our series is very unique with multiple classes on the track together. Every driver needs practice time with other cars on the track to learn where the various classes brake, and where it’s good to pass and be passed.
