How to Join - US drivers

If you are new to VOR and want to join us, below is our procedure. It’s a formal process with several steps. Please follow these steps completely – incomplete steps will prevent you from joining us. If you have questions, please send a private message to Bruce Fisher on our forum.

Please join using your full real name. We require drivers use their real names in rFactor and our forums - it's too hard to learn everyone's nicknames.

Phase 1 – Understand the League
Review our website for a better understanding of our series. We have many series:  VOR’s GPL League (run on Friday nights), VOR Sportscars (multi-classed racing based on ALMS, run on Monday nights), a monthly Sportcar Endurance Series, and several short-term series.

If you are interested in the Endurance Series, click here

If you are interested in the Sportscars, please review:

Sportscars Series Summaries:
Series 1 – GTS – Grand Touring Series - this is GT and GTC cars, and all drivers may participate. Drivers may pick the car and class they want to use (once you pick a car, you will keep it all season). Alternates Monday nights (~9:00pm EDT (same as New York City)) with the LMC Series.

Series 2 – LMC – LeMans Championship – All 4 classes. Drivers must have a VOR license to participate, and drivers must drive a car in their license class. Room 1: A = LMP1, B = LMP2, C = GT. Room 2: D = LMP2, U= GTC. Alternates Mondays (~9:00pm EDT (same as New York City)) with the GTS series.

Phase 2 – Sportscars Application process
If you are interested in joining the VOR Sportscars series (and can participate at approximately 9pm EDT (same as New York City) on Mondays), please complete the following items:

1) Download and complete the application (you may need to right-click and "Save As" to download this file)
2) Download and complete the NDA. You can scan the completed form, or take a digital picture. If you can’t do either of these, you can fax it to the number in the document.
3) Download and complete the Rules Test. We have 40-50 drivers on track and it’s critical that you know the rules. This test is not hard – the answers are posted on the website (in the Rules document).
4) Select your car number (please select an unused number as posted in the first post of the thread).

Please send all 3 of these documents and your car number via PM (Private Message) to Bruce Fisher on our forums (you will need to join the forums to use PMs - remember to use your real name).

Phase 3 – Download the Mod and Tracks
Once we receive your completed application, NDA, and Rules Test, we will send you the Private Forum password so you can download the mod, the skins, and the tracks we use. We have 1 thread that contains all our downloads (you will not have access to it until you get access before completing the above steps). I recommend you subscribe to that Download Thread (documented in the thread) so you receive email updates when a new download is ready.

Please make sure you read the readme file as linked in the download thread. It has a lot of great information about the mod, how to tune your cars, and how to create skins for it.

Our tracks are released in packs. We customize each of the tracks to support our large grids. Track Packs are released usually 1-2 weeks before the first track is needed.

Phase 4 – Decide Your Car
If you are going to participate in the GTS series, send the stewards a note with your desired class (GT1 or GT2). We try to keep the 2 classes roughly balanced, and if one class has more participants, we may limit new member's options to ensure the classes remain balanced.

If you decide to participate in the LMC Series (all 4 classes), you will need to work your way up the classes. When we are in preseason, we have license-validation races to help assign properly licenses to each driver. Once we are mid-season, all new members will start in the GT2 class to prove their safe driving and ability to handle the multiple classes with large grids. If they do very well, they may ask to be bumped up a class (or asked to move up if they are clearly in the wrong class). Once the driver is in the right class, they will be allowed to remain there for the remainder of the season.

General Notes
Please practice with us online as often as possible. Our series is very unique with multiple classes on the track together. Every driver needs practice time with other cars on the track to learn where the various classes brake, and where it’s good to pass and be passed.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
